We negotiate and document the purchase and sale of real property ranging from office buildings to warehouses to apartment buildings to farm land.  Our services entail contract negotiation and drafting, due diligence, drafting of conveyances, and closing real estate deals.  Our clients include large companies, small businesses, not-for-profits, municipal corporations, and individuals.

Our firm represents both landlords and tenants.  We negotiate and draft office, industrial, retail, agricultural, school, shopping center, and residential leases and subleases.  We have substantial experience in specialized leases such as billboard leases, wind farm leases, and ground leases.

Our attorneys have represented international, national, regional, and community banks in the documentation and enforcement of their mortgage and construction loans.  We have represented both large and small institutional lenders in their real estate-based lending.  The Real Estate Group is also quite adept at representing borrowers in the negotiation and drafting of commitment letters, loan agreements, notes, mortgages, pledge agreements, and personal guarantees and related loan documents.

Our Real Estate Practice Group assists clients in structuring and completing 1031 tax deferred exchanges of a wide variety of properties. Such planning often includes the use of Starker Trusts, qualified intermediaries, reverse exchanges, parking arrangements, and other sophisticated tax strategies.
